About Lynn Sigman

Lynn Sigman is a USDAA judge, and teaches agility full-time. Lynn got involved in Dog Agility Competition in 1994. She had previously been lightly involved in Dog Obedience competition. Since this time she has put titles on 4 dogs, all rescues/rehomes.

Samwise

The first has been Sam, a mix-breed dog adopted from the Lancaster Co Humane League. Sam earned a CDX from both Ambor and ASCA, and finished his Agility Dog Championship with USDAA and his NADAC Agility Trial Championship before retiring at age 11. He is still active at age 16!

Cap't Patch

Patch, a blue-tick coonhound mix, was a rescue of passion; he had physical scars and issues to prove he’d been abused beyond the limits of any being. Agility was supposed to be a pastime to help him overcome his issues. Instead, he managed to achieve a Novice title in Agility, as well as a CD in Obedience. Patch is Lynn’s monument to what can be achieved when nothing seems possible. Patch came to Lynn in the summer of 1995 and was 4 or 5 years old at the time. He passed away on Thanksgiving week in 2006. He is missed and still loved.

Quincy

Quincy was given to Lynn from a friend who trains Service Dogs. Quincy is a border collie who flunked the Service Dog test mainly in the problem-solving department. Quincy was 2 years old when he came to Lynn, not housebroken and with an annoying problem of “going” in the crate and then lying in it. He’d been left alone so much that he saw no reason for “holding it”, and as a side effect he’d learned to “be dirty”. This is a very difficult situation to overcome, but Agility played a big part in teaching this big dog that there is a reason for everything and playing the game the people want you to play can be a lot of fun! Lynn will say; “In the house-breaking department I’ll say I never saw a dog as difficult as Quincy before or after I adopted him, but I will say I can confidently attack that problem since he’s taught me all the tricks!” Quincy took to agility and obedience just fine. He and Lynn made Top Ten in USDAA Snooker in 1999 and finished his ADCH (Agility Dog Champion) in 2003. He then went on to a career of training young people to handle dogs. Quincy is now 13 years old and retired from competition.

Arlo

Arlo is a Swedish Vallhund. Arlo came to Lynn in an unusual way; his owner had advertised the sale of a Swedish Vallhund in a local paper. Lynn saw the ad and knowing that nobody local would know what a Swedish Vallhund was, she answered and offered to take the dog. She intended to foster the dog and find an active home for him, but Arlo had other ideas. He bonded to her firmly and the glue never loosened! He is her current agility partner.
